Plumbing Policies

November 25th, 2011 by admin in Plumbing

From the title of the article you can assess that what is to be stated. We would like to advise you to choose a company which sells the plumbing material, provides plumbing installation and repairing services with guarantee. The company should be a famous and well reputed. As compared to other companies, the standing of the selected company should be about equal to oldest companies.

Such company, with its experience is in the position to provide you top class plumbing material, taps and valves etc, basins, sink and showers etc. In addition to this it provides plumbing installation services with qualified and experienced plumbers. Moreover you are given guarantee of material and services and replacements and repairing are made well in time.

When you decide to entrust all your plumbing matters to the hands of one company, of course you choose the best one in the market. It is not difficult to decide that which is the best? If you ask some relatives or friends for your task and visit the installation (with a keen observation of the material) of the recommended one or more companies just like  all needs plumbing along with the best plumbing Dallas . Further you clear that in case of any complaint how that company deals and how the guaranteed material and installation services are considered. If a customer for his all plumbing matters depends upon a company, of course the company would be sympathetic to the customer and fulfill all his requirements well in time at appropriate rates.

If you are residing in such area which is not so developed, no such company is still there to serve you completely and there are material selling and installation services separately. You should adopt another policy i.e. if you buy the material first, you should try to involve the shopkeeper with your installation and repairing services. You should clear him that you would attain the same services which would be recommended by him.

If you consult plumbing services first, you should involve the owner with your material buying issue. In both cases you should make sure that the former takes the responsibility of the good services of the later. In such areas this policy would be useful as the shopkeepers have to increase the number of their customers by different ways.

Benefits:

If buying, installation and repairing services are from the same company, the plumber is very well familiar to the material (pipes, supporting devices and taps, valves, showers etc). Due to making the installation of the same material again and again, the plumber is able to install the material properly/professionally.

If after the installation any plumbing problem is there with regard to pipes, supporting devices, taps, basin etc. the plumber would be easy to understand the problem perfectly instead of the plumber who did not install your plumbing. Of course the replacement and repairs would be made efficiently. If the plumber of your company has a call by you that a problem is there in   drainage/sewerage, the plumber is able to understand the reason even prior to visit the site and he would take a little time to solve the same.

How To Deal With Blocked Drains

November 2nd, 2011 by admin in Plumbing

A blocked drain is an occurrence that happens eventually to all households. You may have experienced being in the shower with the water level slowly forming a puddle or even quickly rising, submerging your feet. Whilst brushing your teeth, you may be surprised to find out that the sink is already half filled with water. The worst possible drain blockage that could happen in an establishment though, is if your toilet would not flush properly even with after several attempts. Aside from being unhygienic, this is also gross and could lead to embarrassing situations.

Blocked drains are the result of an obstruction in the area between your bathroom drain and the drainage pipes that it leads to. It is usually caused by trapped solid objects such as hair, dust and particles. The blockage gets worse when household products such as shampoos, conditioners, soaps, and detergents accumulate. This will eventually become denser and will hinder the water from flowing smoothly through your drain pipe.

There are several ways to get your pipes working properly again. Several gadgets found in the market could remedy blocked drains given that the cause of obstruction is a simple material such as hair. If the blockage is at a single sink trap, illuminate the trap with a flashlight. If you could clearly see that the cause of the jam is accumulated hair, you may use a wire bent at the end like a hook, or even long nosed pliers to pull our the clog of hair yourself.

A toilet plunger could also be used to clear a simple blocked drain. Just ensure that the rubber cup of the plunger fully covers the sink, tub, or toilet drain. There must also be plenty of water around the plunger. Push the plunger up and down until the block is successfully dislodged. This may take a few minutes, but be patient because this method actually works. It may not suffice, however, if the blockage is caused by rust or mineral build up or a broken drain line.

The plumbing snake is one tool used to clear drain blocks. It is a flexible wire that is forced down through a drain and may be rotated by hand or by a machine, depending on its size. Caution must be taken, though, as using a power snake could lead to serious injury. This tool is best left in a professional plumber’s hands if you do not know how to control it.

Another tool that is used for unclogging drains is the kinetic water ram. It can unblock some drains even if the block is distant, as long as the drain pipe is full of water when the ram is used. It compresses air in a cylinder, and releases this air forcefully to loosen the obstruction in the pipes. It is imperative not to use too much pressure than what is needed to clear the drain. You could end blowing the trap right off the sink if the air pressure is too high.

Using de-clogging chemicals could effectively unclog your blocked drain. But these chemicals are dangerous and may harm our environment as most of the chemicals are toxic and might cause burns or poisoning.

A blocked drain poses a serious health hazard. Sewerage-borne germs may cause fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, and stomach ache. It is important to be observant and if any family member exhibits any of these symptoms, consult a doctor right away.

Objects that come in direct contact with the dirty water should be disinfected using household bleach diluted with water. Any items that could not be disinfected such as stuffed toys and the like should be disposed of immediately.

In dealing with a blocked drain, it is always best to leave the dirty work to the professionals. Your trusted plumber could quickly solve the problem. This might be more expensive than doing it yourself, but you can be assured that your blocked drain is completely cleared and it will not bother you again in the near future. Most of all, calling a plumber will ensure the safety of your family, since most of the gadgets and methods mentioned above are best used by a professional.

Be sure to have your plumber’s number among the list of your emergency numbers. In most cases, a plumber is just as important as a doctor. With his help, your blocked drain could be gone in a jiffy.

Blocked Drains, From Start to Finish

November 1st, 2011 by admin in Plumbing

A common situation in many homes and buildings, that can be avoided, is problems with blocked drains. The reasons drains get blocked is usually the same, and ways to avoid these problems are simple, we just don’t pay that much attention to our household pipes. To assist you we will provide you some very important information and show you what to do before a problem happens, what to do when facing the problem and after the event.

The most important tip you’ll hear about avoiding blocked drains is to prevent the blockage in the first place. That can be done in many different ways, but whether you’re reading this because you want to prevent a blocked drain from happening in your home or if you’re finding ways to unclog a blocked drain, everything’s covered here.

First let’s go over what you can do to prevent a blocked drainage problem in your home or how you can stop it from happening again.
• Check around for open pipes. Make sure that nothing is falling into the open pipes, like leaves or dirt, so they don’t cause blocked drains. Also make sure you cover open pipes during renovations so you avoid debris getting into the pipes. Simply cover them during the renovations period then open them up again after.
• Don’t leave hair at drains or sinks. It may seem like hair can’t block a whole pipe but it happens more often than you imagine! When hair bundles up it becomes a big ball that can also tangle around other debris in it. All that stuff jumbled up together will block your pipes.
• Never flush things that are not meant to be flushed down the toilet. Sanitary napkins, nappies or even baby wipes should go in the trash.
• In the kitchen, always use sink strainers.
• Do not wash food scraps or oily and greasy substances down a drain. Oil and grease are known culprits when it comes to blocked drains.
• Be careful with keeping things near the toilet that can fall in. If you use a clip on freshener for the toilet, make sure it sticks on properly. Did you know that some Real Estate agents make note in the rental contract that you are not permitted to use a clip on freshener due to the potential blocking hazard?
• Do not let your kids ‘experiment’ flushing things down the toilet.

Now if you’re currently going through a blocked drainage problem, here are some of your options:

• A plunger is the easiest tool you could use. Plungers specially work when the toilet or kitchen sink is blocked. It won’t however do much for a serious blockage problem.
• A cable auger or otherwise known as a plunger snake is a steel cable wound around a hand crank. This works well in curved pipes as the steel cable is flexible.
• High Pressure water jets are another solution. They work well and do not cause any damage to pipes.
• Drain Cleaners also work well, especially in kitchen sinks and should only be used by an adult.
• Electro-Mechanical Cleaning is another method used to unclog blocked drainages. Using a rod which you can fit attachments to can be used in getting rid of roots, twigs, leaves or other objects that have bundled up.

After you’ve dealt with your blocked drainage problem, you go back to prevention. Another way of preventing problems like these from happening is to regularly have your pipes checked. Cleaning maintenance will save you from the trouble of suddenly having to find a plumber because water is flowing in places it shouldn’t. Also keep in mind that a drainage problem when not taken care of immediately can cause health problems as the water is normally waste water.

If you can’t take care of a drainage problem by yourself, then contact a plumber immediately. Keep the number of your neighborhood plumber or building plumber on hand and also find an emergency plumber you can contact if needed.

10-Reasons Why Being Retired Is Great

October 30th, 2011 by admin in Plumbing

Before I can tell you the ten best reasons to be retired, I need to give a little back ground.

My work as a plumber was a great career choice for me. I was challenged both physically and mentally for numerous years. Why I chose this career was very simple but it took me a few years to decide that this was the career I wanted for the next forty years. It all started when I was younger around fifteen. I worked during the summer for a company that did trenching and excavating. I was the yard boy which meant I did any and all jobs available. I changed tires on trucks, back-hoes, scrapers, tractors, and other very large machinery. I worked with the mechanic and went out to service all the different excavating equipment. This is where I met plumbers in the field who were pouring and wiping lead joints, installing lead and oakum sewer joints, and many other plumbing tasks. I was told by the mechanic who I was working with and others that I would make a good plumber and that the job was rewarding, the pay was great and I could be my own boss one day.

After four years in the Air Force as a Medical Technician (Medic) I applied for the position of a plumber apprentice with the Denver plumbers & pipe-fitters union local #3 and was accepted one month after leaving the Air Force. I worked nine years in the union and I was very fortunate to be given the opportunity to learn and become a highly skilled journeyman plumber and after a year I took my test and passed to become a Master plumber.

When I retired in 2005 I felt I was too young to fully retire from the Veterans Administration, so I went back to work.

I searched online for a job and found one in Las Vegas Nevada at the Bellagio resort & casino. My work up to this point had been building and maintaining hospitals, high rises, and service work. It was a nice change to work in a casino as large as the Bellagio with a happy atmosphere of fun and entertainment. I would have to say if your interested that hospital work is by far more challenging, but after doing hospital work for many years this was exactly what I needed for my mental state at this time in my life.

I gave the Bellagio my two weeks notice in 2007, worked a year at another hospital.in Colorado and in 2008, I fully retired and haven’t looked back since. I left Las Vegas because the wife and I missed our family. I can say the two years spent in Las Vegas was a lot of fun for the wife and I.

Since fully retiring I have written a book called “Flush Your Plumbing Troubles Down The Toilet” available on Amazon.com. I have been writing various articles on the web site Triond and many plumbing articles on Bukisa.

The Ten- Reasons I Love Being Retired:

1. You can visit the public library as often as you like.

2. I can take care of my first vegetable garden and watch my garden grow.

3. I can go to the movie theater when I want, and with limited amount of other people around.

4. Technology and its many applications.

5. Spend more time with my grandchildren before they get to old.

6. Go gambling once a month with the wife and get better deals on food and other offers during the week.

7. The wife and I can travel often and get better deals because our time is flexible.

8. Fishing

9. Wake up and stay up when I want.

10. Hot cup of coffee in the morning and don’t have to rush out the door.
